Geowissenschaftliches Kolloquium – Prof. G. Geyer: „When, where and why life began to walk – A reconnaissance of the Cambrian Explosion and the origin of the Bilateria“
Am Montag, den 07.01.2019, hat Prof. G. Geyer von der Universität Würzburg einen Vortrag zu dem Thema: “When, where and why life began to walk – A reconnaissance of the Cambrian Explosion and the origin of the Bilateria“ gehalten.
ABSTRACT:
The Cambrian Radiation Event, or Cambrian Explosion, records the advent of metazoan life and set the patterns of modern animal body plans. A plethora of new data on Ediacaran and early Cambrian fossils provides insight into the key developments of the earliest animal evolution. However, no general agreement has been achieved to date about the identity of a number of taxa and the emergence of fundamental groups during the Ediacaran. This presentation reviews the most important of the relevant fossils of this most exciting interval in Earth History.
