Javad Karimi, M. Sc.
Javad Karimi is a PhD researcher at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and a member of the Research Training Group GRK 2423 FRASCAL. His research focuses on modeling the formation and evolution of deformation bands in porous rocks and their impact on reservoir permeability. He investigates how fragmentation processes, initiated by rock fractures, contribute to the development of compaction and deformation bands in brittle materials. Additionally, his work explores how rock properties, deformation mechanisms, and crack healing influence the mechanical and permeability characteristics of these bands.
Javad’s primary research interests include rock mechanics, fracture mechanics, damage mechanics, and the application of machine learning to material behavior analysis.
